Innovation is not an incremental improvement. It’s a game changing shift in how you work
Finding true innovative products and expertise today is hard. Across the globe, railtrack movements are increasing, as is the need to build, rebuild and maintain. How our operators work, when and how, is putting pressure on Track owners to change how they manage their key asset, track.
BMC Design & Innovations was created by Track experts that have worked globally to become sector leaders. Today BMC is unique in being able to provide pioneering consulting and practical products that both transform and streamline infrastructure operations through it’s Know-How Consulting and innovative products.
Instead of settling for incremental improvements, BMC examines projects and their required services from the ground up, searching for ways to remove inefficiencies that cost the track owner time, money and ease the operators experience.
Unparalleled Expertise and Product Innovation led by an Industry Leader
Starting in a small Ayrshire coastal town, William “Billy” McCulloch co-founded and developed, McCulloch Group into an international distributor over the course of 30 years. His innovation and expertise led to the development of the TRT, Panel Lifters and TCTs working on crucial rail projects in the UK expanding to Australasia, North America, Europe and Asia.
Moving on to new pastures, Billy leads BMC and brings his innovative mind and vast expertise to a growing set of challenges in the rail industry and beyond through a product-led consultative approach.
Know-How Consulting for Pioneering Time-Saving & Cost Efficiency
In recent years the demand for ‘Know-How’ on how best to maintain and build track, its services and its key operators, has grown. Many track owners have an ageing workforce, are less likely to work overnight hours, have ageing assets or indeed need new track that needs to be laid quickly.
In a recent project our team was asked to look at track access for remote workings, on single track used frequently for freight usage. Our team devised a simple, no-nonsense access track we now call the BMC/TS . Because of the TS, one track owner has saved hours of transfer time and operator time, not only releasing the track earlier for usage, but saving time and costs with maintenance equipment. In the long term, the goal for the TS is for work to be done during the working week with little effect to train movements.
But our Team doesn’t just focus on product innovation. We also look at the key working strategy around the track and devise methods for approaching the work in a new and efficient way.

The First In Our Line Of Breakthrough Products
As BMC launches, it’s proud to announce the first product out of its manufacturing line, the BMC/TS, a breakthrough for rail machinery, site access and time efficiencies. The BMC/TS is designed to simplify track access by allowing equipment to be deployed directly at or near the site of work. With this approach, machinery can be swiftly moved to the target area, reducing setup time and ensuring that work can proceed with minimal disruption to active tracks.
Initially designed for track owners and principal contractors who are eager to streamline their operations, the BMC/TS is the first of many cutting edge solutions addressing two critical industry challenges;
1) the increased demand and difficulties for maintenance, project, enhancements and renewal works and the limitations of an aging workforce reluctant to work during weekends or overnight; and
2) the traditional reliance on costly, underutilized machinery means that valuable resources are often tied up, waiting for the limited track access needed to carry out essential work.
BMC’s approach isn’t just an upgrade, it’s a paradigm shift. By enabling active track use, the BMC/TS redefines operational efficiency and cost efficiencies, empowering track owners to accomplish more with less time and fewer resources.
